Cal Ripken’s Real Baseball 2008 is a major breakthrough in multi-player gaming. When you're facing a psychiatric ward full of Elvis impersonators, you'll think you're the one who's going to need to lie down on a couch. While the attraction of casualty-style blood and guts is obviously there, the development team is keen to keep it to a minimum. All movements and animations are fluid; everything moves as it would be in real life. To add to the realism, other computer players are playing against you, creating and running their own hospitals; if you have access to a network, up to three other players can play. The network game is an all-out war: poaching staff from the other hospitals, balancing budgets, attracting your competitors' patients, and researching new cures and machines.

Gameplay New players begin in a secluded area.[23] They are led on a set path where they learn most of the non-member skills needed to succeed in RuneScape. After the tutorial, players have access to tutors located in the towns they explore. These non-playable characters, or NPCs, can replace some basic equipment items if necessary and can give players appropriate information about their respective skills. Skills A player engaging in the Fishing skill.Skills in RuneScape are the abilities that enable players to perform activities in the game. Players gain experience (EXP) in a skill when they utilize the skill, e.g. mining ore trains the mining skill, thereby increasing their level in that skill. As the skill level rises, the ability to retrieve better raw materials and produce better products increases, as does the experience awarded. The total skill level of a player partly symbolizes the player's status in the game. The RuneScape highscore tables can be viewed by all players. Upon reaching the highest available level in a skill, members may buy a special cape, referred to as a "Cape of Accomplishment" or a "Skill Cape", to symbolise their achievement in that skill.[29] Some skills, such as woodcutting and fishing, enable the player to collect raw materials that can be processed into usable items using other skills, such as fletching and cooking, respectively.
