How does 7 brand new, gorgeous arenas to play in sound? How about a more balanced and responsive weapon set? Do you like to 1v1? Well we now have a duel mode! The gameplay of Alien Arena was the big focus this release, and you'll see the difference immediately. Weapons now respawn in five seconds rather than twenty. A Q3 style health and ammo system has been implemented, to help prevent weapon camping, as well as a random spawning quad. Last but not least, version 6.10 presents a brand new weapon, the Violator!

The engine has received signifigant improvements that make it look better as well as run considerably faster. Also, the latest version features a brand new game mode called "Cattle Prod", a very team-oriented style of play that is completely unique to Alien Arena

This game is the followup to the critically acclaimed( http://www.linux.com/feature/119775 ) Alien Arena 2007, and features nearly all new game media, gameplay improvements, and a client that has been signifigantly upgraded for improved visual effects as well as major optimizations that greatly improve the fluidity and performance.

Alien Arena 2008 also offers a change to it's overall theme, moving towards a slightler darker, more serious tone, while still retaining a good bit of it's retro style, creating an interesting marriage between classic and modern sci-fi. This resulted in completely new player models, many new weapon models and textures, and seventeen, yes, seventeen new levels! The transformation is nothing short of remarkable.

There are major improvements in weapon effects, per-pixel lighting, texture resolution, and resource usage, as well as the addition of a cross platform server browser, FUSE. Weapons have been tweaked for better balance, and movement has been enhanced with the addition of dodging abilities. Alien Arena 2008 will run on Windows and Linux, and the OSX/Mac port will be released in one week.

-Instant Action-
The new Instant Action mode of America's Army allows you to quickly jump into the AA action without the need to complete training first. Now with Instant Action Recruit status you can play alongside veteran AA gamers and complete training at your convenience. Instant Action is available on any mission that is not restricted to Special Forces only players. You will need to complete Basic Combat Training in order to achieve honor levels higher than Honor 20, plus you'll gain the benefits of improving your skills as a soldier with each training level you complete! Your Honor will remain at 20 until you pass BCT, at which point you will receive all of the additional experience points you have accrued.

-AA Loader-
The new AA Loader checks your version of the game to ensure you are up to date with the most current release. It also provides easy links to other community tools and support information. The AA Loader requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or later be installed on your system.

-Flashbang-
The flashbang has been tuned a bit to make it more realistic. The effectiveness has been reduced when used outdoors. Also the blackout duration has been reduced.

-Weapon Reloading-
Weapons reload faster then before. Fixing jams and using the supported/unsupported function are also quicker now.
